Why Personal Service Still Wins

The part the big companies keep trying to remove

Most businesses do not wake up excited to buy paper. That is fine. Our job is to make sure you do not have to spend much time thinking about it.

The easiest way to make paper purchasing difficult is to remove the person who knows the account. A website can remember a SKU. It cannot always remember that your second floor uses legal paper, your accounting team needs the same form every month, or the loading dock closes early on Fridays. A salesperson can.

Personal does not mean inefficient

Good personal service is not endless lunches and unnecessary phone calls. It means one accountable person has enough context to solve the issue quickly. If a product is unavailable, you should not have to explain your entire business to three departments before somebody suggests a substitute.

Digital ordering is useful for repeat purchases. Dunder Mifflin Infinity exists for exactly that reason. The relationship still matters when something changes: a deadline moves, a location opens, a printer rejects a new stock, or a shipment is short.

The real test

Ask a simple question of any supplier: when something goes wrong, who owns it? If the answer is a queue, a ticket number and a promise that another team will respond later, the low price starts to feel more expensive.

Dunder Mifflin’s advantage is not that paper is mysterious. It is that business is personal even when the product is ordinary. We intend to keep it that way.
